KINDERGARTEN TEACHERS

Zerlinna Coquia

I am so excited to be a part of Hidden Hills and this wonderful community! I have been working with children since 1995 and teaching in elementary schools since 1998.

One of my favorite parts of teaching is seeing the passion of learning in my students’ eyes. I am fortunate enough to teach Kindergarten, where everything is so new that I get to see that joy and excitement every day!

This will be my tenth year in the San Ramon school district as a Kindergarten teacher. Watching the kinders enter their first year of school, so eager and excited about learning, is why I love teaching Kindergarten. A tremendous amount of growth occurs during the Kindergarten year, and it is fun to be a part of it all.

Beyond the classroom, I enjoy being with my family and friends, reading and traveling when the time allows.
I am delighted to be a member of the Kindergarten team at Hidden Hills.  It is very exciting to be involved in a new and growing school community.

This will be my 6th year teaching kindergarten at Hidden Hills. I’ve been here since it opened. I’ve attended school at the University of California Berkeley, & Cal State Hayward where I received my credential. This will be my 15th year teaching-mostly in kindergarten although I have taught a K/1 combo, first grade and have looped (where I had the same kids for another year).

Outside of the classroom I enjoy spending time with my family.  I have a daughter in the 7th grade at Windemere Ranch Middle School and a son in the 4th grade at Quail Run.  I like to travel, shop, play tennis, golf and am a CAL fan!

I am so excited to be a part of the Hidden Hills community this year! I was a student in the San Ramon Valley School District and feel at home in this community. As a student here, I gained a passion for learning that I want to give back through my teaching. I believe that learning should be an experience where students are encouraged to actively participate. I believe the classroom should be a safe and fun place where all students feel comfortable and respected; this is important for growth, learning, and the success of all students.

I graduated from St. Mary's College in 2004 with a BA in English. I previously taught preschool in Lafayette for 2 years and worked in a Kindergarten classroom in our district for 2 years while attending school.  I received my credential and Masters in Teaching with an emphasis in Elementary Education from Chapman University College. I am looking forward to being a part of the Kindergarten program here at Hidden Hills for the second year!

I am a proud product of San Ramon Valley Unified School District. I attended Walt Disney Elementary, Pine Valley Middle School, and finally, California High School. I received my BA from California State University and my teaching Credential from Holy Names College. For eight years, I taught in Oakland, California.

When I heard of an opening at Hidden Hills School, I jumped at the opportunity to teach in my own community. Meeting my colleagues and working with the community the last few years has strengthened my conviction that this is where I belong.

I look forward to a great year ahead at Hidden Hills! Prior to coming to SRVUSD, I taught for eight years in Alameda and 2 years in Huntington Beach.

I have really enjoyed my years in Kindergarten because I love hearing the thoughts of these new students as well as watching them bloom from the beginning of the year to the end. I am grateful for the opportunity to work with your kids!

I am thrilled to be a member of the supportive and growing Hidden Hills family! I believe children learn best in a community atmosphere where they can take academic risks with the encouragement and support of other learners. I am excited to work with the families, students and staff as we prepare for the new school year.

Prior to joining the Hidden Hills staff, I have taught Kindergarten in San Diego, where I attended the University of San Diego for my Master's degree in Education.

I know this year will be amazing!

I have been teaching at Hidden Hills since 2006 and it has been exciting to see the growth and progress of our school community. It is such an honor to be a part of a supportive team of students, families, and staff members who value a well-rounded education.

Teaching has been my passion for as long as I can remember. I have had experience teaching in several different grade levels and Kindergarten is my absolute favorite. What I love most about Kindergarten is the children's ability to see the magic and joy in simple things, while beginning to think logically. It is a time of tremendous growth both socially and academically. My goal is to instill a love of learning and to build the confidence that each child needs to become a life long learner. I look forward to another amazing year!
