SECOND GRADE TEACHERS

Ava Angeletopoulos (2/3)

I look forward to another amazing year at Hidden Hills. This will be my tenth year teaching and my sixth year at Hidden Hills. My previous teaching years were in Los Angeles. I received my undergraduate degree from Cal State Northridge. I received my teaching credential as well as my Masters in Education from Pepperdine University.

I believe it is important to build a foundation where children can explore and understand the joys of learning. To teach is to enable children success in learning by using different modalities in the classroom, and to give each child the confidence they need to work to their full potential.

In my free time, I enjoy Greek folk dancing. I have run a program that consists of six dance groups beginning at the age of four all the way up to adults. Besides that I enjoy hiking with my pooch, watching movies, traveling, and shopping.

I truly am excited to be part of the Hidden Hills community and am looking forward to another wonderful year in 2nd grade!

I was born and raised in San Ramon, making my way through Country Club Elementary, Pine Valley Intermediate, and California High. In 2003, I obtained my Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from St. Mary’s College with the hopes of one day opening my own childcare center.  However, while in school I realized where I truly wanted to be was in the classroom, so I continued my education and earned my Teaching Credential and Master of Arts in Education at the University of San Francisco.

In my spare time I like to spend time with my family and friends shopping, going to   movies, traveling, reading and of course shopping some more!

I am looking forward to another year with second grade at Hidden Hills. This is my eighth year teaching second grade. I am excited to be a part of such a wonderful and dedicated school community!

I am originally from Orange County, but now I love living in the Bay Area. I received my bachelor's degree in Communications/Public Relations from Cal State Fullerton. After graduation, I moved to San Francisco to work for a public relations agency. After a year, I realized that I wanted to do something more fulfilling and rewarding. In 2001, I began teaching and working on my credential. I received my teaching credential from Cal State Hayward.

When I'm not working, I enjoy traveling, movies, reading, taiko drumming, hiking, languages, friends and family, Disneyland, and trying to get my stubborn Basset Hound out for more exercise.

After such an AMAZING first year of teaching at Hidden Hills, I can't wait to begin year two. Being a part of the San Ramon Valley Unified School District is not something that I take for granted. I feel so fortunate to be a part of the Hidden Hills "community."

While I've always understood the importance of teaching the core curriculum, I also embrace the opportunity to teach beyond the scope of academics in my classroom. To me, it's equally important that my students build lasting friendships, learn to solve their problems independently and always reach for the stars!

Before I began teaching at Hidden Hills, I attended the University of Arizona as an undergraduate student and later received my teaching credential from St. Mary's College. When I'm not busy working with my Superstar Second Graders, I enjoy traveling, handcycling, playing tennis and spending time with my family and friends. Watching football on Sundays is right up there, too!!

Here's to another fantastic year at Hidden Hills!

I can’t believe it’s been six years since I began teaching at Hidden Hills.  I feel very fortunate to have witnessed our school’s amazing growth since it’s inception in 2004.  Before moving to HH, I worked for the Oakland Unified School District where I taught first grade for eight years.  Having received my teaching credential from Holy Names College in Oakland, CA and Masters of Arts in Linguistics from University of Northern Iowa, I hoped to have the chance to work with children from different cultural backgrounds. To say that I’m lucky to have found a home at Hidden Hills where I can work and learn from such a rich and diverse community is an understatement.  I truly enjoy the day-to-day interaction with my students and their family.

During my spare time, I enjoy reading historical fiction, watching sports on T.V., hiking and swimming.  I especially love to travel have just recently been to the Philippines to visit my family. Looking ahead, I can’t help but be excited over the coming year.  I know that the school year will bring with it many new and exciting experiences for both students and me.

I have been a teacher for eight years with five years experience in kindergarten and first grade. I studied at the University of California at Berkeley where I received my Bachelor’s degree, my Master’s degree, and my teaching credential. I am very excited about working at Hidden Hills this year.

I am very excited to be teaching Second Grade this year.  This will be my fifth year teaching Second Grade in San Ramon Valley Unified School District; yet, this will be my first year teaching at Hidden Hills Elementary.  I was raised in the San Ramon area and I am blessed to be teaching close to home. I am excited for the upcoming school year and I look forward to working with the students, parents, and staff at Hidden Hills.  My dream to be an educator runs through me and inspires me daily to put my heart and soul in all that I do.  I love spending time with my family and friends, learning, traveling, reading, and being outdoors.

I'm so excited to begin my second year of teaching second grade at Hidden Hills. The overwhelming amount of support from the parents and staff at this school have made it possible for me to focus on my teaching and learn from my students.

I grew up in Danville and attended school in the San Ramon Valley Unified School District. I went on to earn my BA in Child and Adolescent Development from San Jose State University. For two years, I was a head preschool teacher, working with 2-5 year olds. I then earned my MA in Education and teaching credential from University of Phoenix while working and gaining experience here at Hidden Hills. I am honored to join my mother and sister who, too, work as teachers in our school district.

When I'm not working, I enjoy cooking, arts and crafts, music, working out, and spending time with my two "nieces" (golden retriever pups).

Here's to another great school year!
